Setting An Imaginative Tone With Beautiful Play Silks

saarasilksSarah Lee, the designer and creator of Sarah’s Silks, was inspired to make a line of her own imaginative play silks while her eldest son wanted to make a set of wings.  Always pointing out a particular silk scarf of her’s, Sarah came up with the perfect solution.  Silk scarves do make excellent superhero or insect wings!

Before long, Sarah Lee really started listening to the concerns of her fellow Waldorf parents, and wanted to deliver a creative line of natural toys that was also in-line with the Waldorf School’s signature creative based education program.

The Waldorf educational philosophy encourages the use of imaginative play and creativity as a tool for teaching a wide range of different subjects, from art, reading comprehension, math to science!  Just a few feet of flowing green silk can help any kid transform into a turtle, lizard, Godzilla, or even the Incredible Hulk!  And that same piece of green silk can even help that same child understand plant life cycles or mathematical volume.

A colorful alternative to prepackaged Halloween costumes, kids can great their own one-of-a-kind characters for Halloween parties and fairytale costumes for school plays using simple yet beautiful play silks.  However colorful play silks aren’t limited to just costumes and everyday dress up; it’s also a great resource for decorating a child’s bedroom, highlighting their favorite colors and themes.

For example, to create a lush jungle-inspired kids bedroom, create a flowing silk tent from rolls of various green shades.  This is a great way to make a simple and easy dressing area, make-believe play area, arts and crafts corner, or a whimsical tea room for the stuffed animals.  In lieu of painting and repainting bedroom walls to suffice those ever-changing tastes, Sarah’s Silks can quickly transform a kids bedroom into something totally new and exciting as well.

Regardless of whether you want to create a “Wednesdays we wear pink” room for teenage girls, or a Ninja Turtle green kid’s cave, you CAN make it happen with a rainbow of unique play silks.  Learn more about the many possibilities of these inspired play toys!

Back To School Toy Guide For Parents

Summer certainly flies by, and before you know it, you’re combing online stores and sprawling malls for in-season backpacks, sparkly school supplies, trendy kids outfits, and this year’s reading list books.  While a lot of kids across the country aren’t exactly jumping for joy for the start of the 2014-2015 school year, there is a lot to be excited about if you’re a teacher, and ESPECIALLY if you’re a parent.

Sure, there’s more peaceful hours at home while kids are in school, but back to school season also gives parents more opportunities to nurture their child’s learning before they start that next grade.  It can be quite a challenge keeping kids educationally stimulated during the summer, especially with video games, iPads, and the latest fads getting in the way.  While there are understandable obstacles, parents can get their hands on unique educational toys that are actually fun; plus it can help instill more confidence in learning comprehension before the big day.

For starters, help kids brush up on basic foreign language skills that may have been neglected over the Summer.  Rather than stocking up on run of the mill language flashcards, parents can make language learning a blast with charming Spanish and French language bingo games.  While educational games like this are often designed for children 5 and up, parents can also fine tune their long lost foreign language skills as well!

Promoting a healthy work ethic keeps kids on that right track toward success at school, while naturally encouraging kids to do their homework, help out the neighbors, do their dishes, and a host of other important at-home responsibilities.  Magnetic responsibility charts help parents to encourage this productive behavior in a fun, interactive way.  Furthermore, teachers themselves can use responsibility charts in their own classrooms to encourage better execution of in-class duties, like keeping their desks clean, taking care of the adorable classroom rabbit, cleaning up after lunch, and checking out school supplies.

Teaching responsibilities like sharing with others and coordinating group projects really helps kids later on in their careers.  Working productively with others leads to positive results, and educational toys like solar system puzzles, wildlife floor puzzles, ThinkFun brand games, and unique cooperative board games help kids realize the fruitful outcomes of working together as a team.

This time around, make back to school season a fun, positive learning adventure by supplying a host of appealing educational toys aimed at helping kids perform at their best.
